Everybody knows about exorbitant hospital prices, but a new study from National Nurses United (NNU) shows that many hospitals, especially the for-profit ones, are price gouging their patients. In recent years, medical costs have skyrocketed—and here's part of the reason: Many for-profit hospitals actually charge patients more than 10 times what it costs to provide care.
