Raising Wages Champion Jim Kenney Wins Philadelphia Mayoral Primary

May 20, 2015

Jim Kenney, a former union dishwasher and son of a firefighter, won the Democratic primary in Philadelphia after running a campaign as a strong raising wages champion. In 2013, union member Marty Walsh won the Boston mayoral race and Bill de Blasio won in New York City after similarly advocating strongly on behalf of working families.
