Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Profiles: Sue Kunitomi Embrey

May 14, 2015

This month, we are celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage Month by honoring Asian American and Pacific Islander American activists and present-day organizers. Today we honor Sue Kunitomi Embrey, a teacher and activist who was forced into the Manzanar internment camp with her family at age 19 during World War II. She later became a leading force behind the effort to declare Manzanar internment camp a national historic site.
