A ‘Labor of Love’ Spruces Up Hawaiian School

More than 100 union and community volunteers from the Honolulu area took part in the first “Labor of Love” project earlier this month when they helped repair and beautify Waimanalo Elementary and Intermediate School. On top of 400-plus hours of volunteer time, 18 unions helped raise more than $18,500 in monetary and in-kind donations—including teacher supplies.
